READY OR NOT: HERE I COME

Turns out the future was a world-view away

Like the stereopticons of Before

Buildings coming into frame, dissolving into grasslands

Or ocean

Or desert.

I saw no guardrails

Nor speed limit signs on mountain roads –

It was always personal as to how fast I wanted to travel.

I didn’t let go of everything

I embraced the ‘thin times’ equally

I see in x-ray now & it’s wreaking hell with my eyes

Veneer peels off for radical truth

Gluten-free Truth

Liquid required.

Don’t let  your hair get caught in your halo

Just shine!

= = = = =

The times I’ve lost my soul

I was told it would return or be replaced

It’s with some other inadvertent castoffs –

When things blow up

They make heart-shaped scars

If I were lit from within

I’d shine in heart-shaped lights.

= = = = =

I’ve had a real cash n carry life

Something I was looking for

Was always somewhere else

In another bag

A different pants pocket

Gotta know if the release is

Real or remembered or simply rehearsed…

= = = = =

It isn’t other than that I call it out

Whatever it is in the moment

For all the harrumphing about “easy for you to say”

Move on, if you’re going to say & not do, get lost

If I say I’m gone, buy a scarf to wrap your head

There’s a dust-storm coming.

The star maps guide reliably as railroad tracks

I don’t have anything figured out,

I’m just riding the rails,

= = = = =

I’ve done the rides; I’ve got some tickets left

First thing we did was

Count the tickets so as not to come up short when it was time

To close up the pier.

Without forgiveness, re-entry is a bitch.

= = = = =

I was a working woman, knowing little different

I was fierce & I was fucked

More than once

To my own excoriation.
