What I know is a mishmash/rehash
Of information/data & little of it worth much to begin with:
An opinion, a “knowing,” a feeling, an idea.
Mornings like this, up at 4, coffee first
house cleared up by 5, ready to go by 6…
no place to go but back in after bringing out the trash.
We have enough to do & too much in the simultaneous moment.
So, we make a little progress, get a little done
Think about the pile that remains
Arrange that nicely as to task, timetable & takedown…
Then check somewhere else for input, playing “I Spy” for reasons to live our lives.

I check the little box on the computer
The one that says “I’m a human!”
A tiny wheel spins & I wonder if it will land in another slot this time,
It will come back saying, “No, you’re not human. You are a giant, overflowing Spirit
That put on this HazMat suit of a body, this detection device
Made for wandering climates, time zones, discoveries.”
“You are on a Satellite time-path only accessed in this moment.
Give it a go!”

This is a slow process, this Waking Up
Why, I think I’ve been yawning for about five years.
I may have missed some things that got said
And never saw the way it happened, the way
Earth brought us with her on her journey.
We brought our gods & our more godly ideas.
The men brought inventions & invitations
The women brought both & inventory too.
The feelings had sorted themselves out: it is a New Place for many:
Everyone is free to do as they please
For their pleasure is pleasing others –
I am here for the beginning of it
For some of the beginning-middle part.
I think I get a go at being tall enough to enter the Big Tent,
At having the right cape on when my super-power is announced on the mic.

The life-cycle of an idea
But little is sure except uncertainty.
This is the ride I came for – my life as I live it now,
My ideas as they stretch & sort into their file slots to solidify into ideals
I will use them for steps, up or down.
Every once in a while, one will jump down from its place,
Self-important, knowing, sure of impact & meaning
Only to be chased back into hiding with a brooming comment.

Supreme as Tragedy Is, I’ll Take Comedy Every Time
As I measure the light, it measures me back
Both wanting more of each other.
We found the surprise here, lost before
In love, in family, in believing forever.
We closed in on it, a player with a goal,
Keeping one eye fast to the clock.
We didn’t grow, we breathed in tandem
We were a bellows & fire for each other
It’s not about love, that
dried flake packet, just add tears.
Love tends to rake us over the fire
burning in both the hearth or heart. (Jus’ sayin’)
love is forever a mystery wrapped in mist
a sudden shadow over the window
a smear of song across the airwaves
violins tuning on your ears.
Yet we continue to test ourselves against youniverse,
Imperious in our own humanity
Imprisoned by it, by the complications of peacetime balance.

I was the youngest, but I never shared a sibling’s bed or real-time dreams
I had no way to grasp “sister” or understand “family” except we shared a name –
this seemed of most concern anyway.
Subject to only my own authority, nor how it started
Until it finished
And I was still standing, surfing my fears.

I LOST AGAIN
To the cosmic Black Hole between the car seat & the console
I think I hear faint singing of a civilization developing there,
awaiting its newest offering.
the Church of Inadvertency…
