Hurricane Me
I am ready to be empty again
I could sure use some benevolence, some beneficence
I got one kneeler-knee,
Thank’ee kindly for all well regard!
Scour my beaches, scatter my shells
Dance off my chairs
Sever the me’s hanging on either side…
Plus, while you’re at it, got any spare wings?
The ones with good glue.
I will fill my belly with your potent winds
I will stand, or you will make me fly
Either or won’t matter
Since you’ve uncovered me.
I’ll be who I am no matter how you’ve sliced it.
There’s a Big Ole Me walking with a hand on my shoulder.
He was there all along, but now the veils are thinning.
Distill me, disturb me, get my breathing again
Spiritual CPR is good as any these days.
Empty me of artificial surmises,
Unseemly habits
We must make room for more!
Make me habitable for what comes next
Bring me to the place I may surrender to Divinity
But never by dying if I may only Let Go.
Shatter my past misconceptions
I will put back all the pieces
By not being the me I am now.
Forget my seeking for what I want
Now rendered inchoate on the subject.
I will be left diamond & adamant
Being revalued. Being revealed.

If I’m in my superconscious, I can spot the incoming thought a mile away
The ones with woulda coulda shoulda painted on the arrowheads.
I can hear the sound Dopplering up
I’ve gotten better at hearing them in regular consciousness, too;
They just need more processing time.
All which is not a Miracle needs more processing time.
I prefer the Miracle over not knowing which way to go.

EPITAPH
The ink ran dry.

THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY
You know it, that perfect pithy pitched response
Thought of light-years afterward in
Retrospect & hindsight.
But know what? We got it now & that particular question
Will never vanquish us again.

TAKE THIS PEN & WRING IT DRY
Every word I ever knew
Awaiting to be written
Yet it’s never what was planned
Choosing moments to decide
Which of the words to share with you.
Inside dwells in moonlight
Essential pearl intact
I’m not shy,
Just the quintessential word-wright.

BEAU
You’ll look at me as though you know my face
Tho we may wear some other time or place
I’ll move inside your arms, for this we’ll know
You are the one I’ve journeyed to, my beau.

SINGSONG SINGALONG
Bring back the singsong singalong
Let’s sway & move & clam & stamp our feet
And smile looking eye to eye to eye
Some voices will be high, and some too low
We’ll miss some words by going where we go
So let our voices carry us on high
Let us entrain to keep our minds on meet
And sweet the singsong singalong, so sweet.

SUPERIMPOSITION
Had I a token for those who say
I know you from somewhere else
I ride the golden trolley every day
So let me be familiar
As you puzzle out my who
Ok, you know me now?
Of course you do!
—–
BELIEF
Belief is but a breath beyond your deepest one
That one before grabbing your nose to jump in the pool
I hold my own hands to complete the circuit,
You close your eyes & wish with all your might
For words so singular they must be true
The ones we say when saying I love you.
They will be there to greet you, day & night.
So cherish them as treasure in your head
Better words for all time can’t be said.
